How do the disciplines of medicine, psychology, and religion work together to enhance our holistic understanding of sex, intimacy, and love?

How is sexuality compatible with spiritual life?

Is sexual renunciation the truest path to life lived in holiness?

This conference will:

-       Create an open dialogue that supports an inclusive and interdisciplinary exchange to address the needs and understandings of the Orthodox Christian community.

-       Explore a practical vision of sexuality; how can sexuality harmonize with spirituality?

-       Provide new insights regarding problems for Orthodox Christians created by modern cultureÕs idealization of a highly detached sexuality.

-       Investigate understandings of sex as it relates to all aspects of our being.

-       Engage with various authoritative voices of the Church concerning issues of sex, marriage, and gender.

-       Provide a lively exchange on Orthodox Christian opinions and perspectives.

-       Address possible steps toward creating a healthy, holistic, and God-honoring sexual life.

Proposals are invited for papers to be presented at the first session of the Programme on Sex, Intimacy, and Love. Presentations from professionals in the areas of medicine, psychology, and religion are sought which address sexuality and Orthodox Christianity from holistic and integrative perspectives.

Please submit proposals of 200-500 words by September 20th, 2006.
